What the bays are for
Everything below happens in-house. Anything that does not, we say so early and tell you who does it properly.
Diagnostics
A fault code is where the work starts, not where it finishes. We scan it, then we test the circuit, then we tell you what we actually found.
Covered
- Engine, transmission and ABS fault scanning
- Live data and actuator testing
- Electrical, CAN and earth faults
- Intermittents and no-starts
- Second opinions on someone else's diagnosis
FULL DAY — the calendar will not offer you a Saturday for this.
Scheduled servicing
Servicing to the schedule the vehicle was built to, on the car in front of us rather than on a package name.
Covered
- Oil, filters and fluids to specification
- Cambelt, chain and tensioner inspection
- Brake fluid and coolant condition testing
- Battery, charging and parasitic draw
- Service interval reset
FULL DAY — the calendar will not offer you a Saturday for this.
Performance
Induction, exhaust, cooling and calibration. We will tell you what a change is likely to do before you pay for it, and what it will not do.
Covered
- Induction and exhaust work
- Cooling and oil temperature management
- Suspension geometry and corner balance
- Calibration and road testing
FULL DAY — the calendar will not offer you a Saturday for this.
Brakes & suspension
Taupō sits above a lot of long descents, and the Napier road is a hill in both directions. Brakes here do more work than they do on flat ground.
Covered
- Pads, discs, calipers and lines
- Fluid flush and bleed
- Bushes, arms, joints and bearings
- Dampers, springs and ride height
- Wheel alignment and geometry
FULL DAY — the calendar will not offer you a Saturday for this.
Transmission & driveline
Clutches, dual-clutch and torque converter units, and everything between the gearbox and the road.
Covered
- Clutch and dual-mass flywheel
- Automatic and dual-clutch servicing
- Slave and master cylinders
- Driveshafts, CVs and differentials
FULL DAY — the calendar will not offer you a Saturday for this.
Classic restoration
Mechanical restoration on older vehicles — running, stopping and steering. We do not do panel, paint or trim, and we will say so early.
Covered
- Engine and gearbox rebuilds
- Braking and steering overhaul
- Fuel system and carburettion
- Wiring repair and loom work
- Recommissioning after long storage
FULL DAY — the calendar will not offer you a Saturday for this.
WOF & compliance
The full inspection, and the repairs if it fails. You get told what failed and what it needs before anything is touched.
Covered
- Brakes, steering and suspension
- Tyres, wheels and structure
- Lights, glass, wipers and washers
- Seatbelts, doors, exhaust and fuel system
- Re-inspection after repairs
The rule, not our opinion
A vehicle first registered on or after 1 January 2000 needs a WOF every 12 months. Older vehicles need one every 6 months.

SATURDAY OK — Saturday mornings are WOFs, tyres and pre-tow checks only.
Track & event prep
A check over before a track day, a tour or a long haul — fluids, brakes, fasteners and the things that only fail when you lean on them.
Covered
- Fluid condition and levels under load
- Brake and tyre assessment
- Fastener and torque check
- Alignment and pressures for the event
- Post-event inspection
SATURDAY OK — Saturday mornings are WOFs, tyres and pre-tow checks only.
Not our work
If it is one of these we will tell you who in town does it. It saves you a trip and it saves us pretending.
- Panel and paint
- Windscreen replacement
- Auto glass chip repairs
- Structural or LVV certification work
- Heavy truck and bus servicing
